Who sells a COMPLETE c5 kit? Does anyone sell a whole shebang package deal for c5 brake conversion? or am I better off getting a good price through a family member who owns a garage for stock c5 rotors/calipers/etc., and just buy the brackets from say UMI or someone? Thanks!

This is what I'd go for if I was doing this and needed everything, comes with stainless braided lines, new matching rear rotors also, and costs less than the kit at WS6store:

You can source all the parts yourself, but I would recommend the UMI caliper relocation brackets if you try getting all the parts on your own. I did a lot of reading on the brackets here before starting and the UMI seem preferred. Although the WS6 Store package was pricey, it came with everything needed.
You have to remove the LS1 F-body calipers and then saw the lower caliper ear off, there is no going back after that, your spindles have been modified. Then you bolt up the relocation bracket which moves the ear location out a little bit and then the larger C5 rotors will fit.
Be aware that some brands of relocation brackets may also require the slightly longer C5 brake lines too. With the UMI brackets I left my stock lines on and have not had any issues and it has been maybe 3 or 4 years. Although I am about to change pads this spring and already have some braided C5 brake lines to put in this time.

You need the relocation brackets that move the lower caliper 'ear' out to fit the larger C5 rotors, and C5 calipers. I bought the whole kit from WS6 Store several years ago and am still very happy. Comes with everything including instructions and hardware, bolts, etc..

There may be relocation brackets that will work without cutting the spindles, I don't know. The C5 conversion kit that I bought through WS6 Store with the UMI relocation brackets DID involve cutting the lower caliper mounting spot off, what I called the 'ear'. It isn't the calipers that are being modified, but the mounting place on the spindles.
The conversion I did involved:
Removing the stock LS1 Firebird calipers.
Cutting the lower caliper mounting hole off the spindle, used a saws-all and a little black paint to cover the raw spot.
Bolting up the UMI relocation bracket. The relocation bracket provides new mounting holes for the C5 caliper. Using a little blue Lock-tite and the hardware provided.
Install new C5 rotors.
Mounting the new C5 calipers and pads.
Put the wheels back on. I was very careful and took my time but I doubt I spent more than 2 hours on it.
The mounting bolts for the relocation brackets are some serious hardware and the brackets are quality. The car is my daily driver, and I drive hard, and I have no concern at all about the strength of this setup.
Do a little more search and read here about the conversion options before you buy a kit.

gotcha! thanks for clearing that up. I was gonna buy new pads and rotors for my trans am, but i think im leaning towards the c5 conversion instead.
Is there a preffered c5 caliper out there or will any do just fine?
