C5 brakes?

Default C5 brakes?

I was wondering if my 17x9.5 zr1 rims will work with the c5 conversion brake brackets.I hope they work because i just got a deal for 200 bux for full front brakes with rotors, calipers, lines and everything off of a 2000 vette

They work with my stock camaro ss rims so I would assume they would work with zr1 rims as well.

Yes they should work. It's just 16 inch rims they wont work with and some 17 inch rims like the torq thrust.

Ok cool, did they make a big difference in braking? Im going from lt1 brakes to this so im excited to feel the difference.

where can i find a write up on c5 brake conversion and will it work on 2000 ss?

Per my understanding anyone with LT1 brakes should feel a big difference in braking going to LS1 or C5 brakes. In my case I did not notice a significant different in stopping power though the brakes have more endurance during long road racing sessions.

I have a C5 conversion on my 02' T/A (bought the car that way) and I am running 15" racestar wheels on the rear. They were tight, minimal calpier grinding but they fit!

The C5 conversion usually doesn't include the rear brakes, your rears are likely the factory fbody ones as those usually need clearancing for 15" drag wheels.

I'd get the LG Brackets - they are $295 tho. But they allow you to use your stock calipers (larger pistons - more clamping force) and you use F-Body pads. And require NO cutting.

You can also use C5 or C6 calipers and pads (stronger caliper, especially with the C6, but smaller piston bore for the larger rotor).

On the F-Body, I think using the stock calipers + larger rotor might create more front bias. If you're running larger rear tires or a more aggressive rear pad, this is good - in theory shorter stopping distances.
