Default Rack leak question and recommendation

I've noticed the last few days that my rack is leaking. I replaced it a few years ago so I would have thought that it would have lasted longer. I've never liked the feel of it compared to the stock rack ... and because I didn't like how tight it felt, I adjusted the pre-load. It's too loose as I loosened the pre-load screw 90° and it should be no looser than 45°-70° from "0 lash".

Any chance that that could be causing the leak? I'm going to tighten it to the right specs tomorrow and see.

If it doesn't stop the leak, what is a good recommendation for a rack on a `99 TA?

On a related note, what PS cooler are you using? If the OEM unit, replace it and go with an aftermarket one for starters, there is a huge thread about them failing resulting in coolant in PS fluid and PS fluid in coolant. What a mess. GM originally added the coolers to deal with failures.

I thought my rack was leaking but it ended up being the high pressure hose that was leaking and it was just running down to the rack and making a mess. Just a thought.

Thanks! Yeah ... that's what I have on it now - a rack doctor rack.

Actually I just replaced the pressure hose a month ago. It was leaking at the passenger side boot. It seems to have stopped since I adjusted the pre-load properly.
