Default changing shocks

going to change my shocks. Car has 60k miles on it. Will I need topmounts for the front shocks? Hate to spend $100 on new if the old ones should still be good

Your strut mounts should be in pretty good shape with that mileage but you won't really know till you get everything apart and can visually inspect them.

I had about 60K on my mounts and I reused them.

Be prepared to possibly grind away the top mount retaining nut (with a spring compressor installed UNDER TENSION) since the top of the mounts are GREAT places for water and debris to sit and rust the threaded shock rod/nut. My drivers side was fine...passenger side, not so much.

I went with the Bilstein "B6" shocks and was able to use the existing stock hardware in the front. Sara (2001 Z28) had 40k original miles.

I live in a very dry climate.

Ditto to what's been said, just did mine with 60k on them too, quite a bit of rust around the nut, but the mounts were just fine to re-use.

With a lot of PB blaster and a couple sets of vicegrips on the shock shafts i was able to get the nut off, but man was it a pain...

^I had no patience for the PB blaster etc. Used spring compressors and went to town on it with a carbide bit on a 1/4" die grinder lol. I have/had no use for keeping 60K stock shocks lol.
