Default Solid pan hard to adjustable?

Has anybody modified an aftermarket solid pan hard bar into an adjustable? Can do any machining at work but was wondering if anybody has done it before ?

Yes I have. I took a solid bar, cut a section out, welded two 2" collar nuts to each cut end then threaded all-thread between them. Worked fine on my car for a while then gave it to a buddy and he has been running it for a few years with no issue. Parts were bought at Home Depot.
