Default Grinding on front rotor

Any thoughts on what's causing this? The pads are new Hawk DTC-60s (which I've run for years on track) and the rotors are new. There's obviously something that's cutting into the rotor however I can't understand what would cause it.

Did you take off the pads to see if anything got stuck in there?

Finally pulled it apart this afternoon and the answer was brake pad material that had collected into a big enough piece to be abrasive.
