Default Rear pad selection

I'm doing the LS1 brake conversion on my 96 SS and I was wondering what pads I should do for the rear. I'm going to use Stoptech street performance pads on the front. I have heard that you need a less aggressive pad on the rear, but I'm not sure. Would running the Stoptech pads front and rear be an issue?

you heard right, these cars come from the factory with to much rear brake bias. save the money and just get a factory replacement pad for the rear.

how is the ls1 rear brake swap? I have all the parts to do it, just haven't bit the bullet and done it yet

Ok, I think amazon has the ACdelco pads pretty cheap.

I'm just doing the front swap, should have clarified that. Just wanted to replace the rear pads and rotors while I'm at it.

It doesnt really help your question but im using stop techs on the front of my ls1 swap brakes and really like them for street use. They are quiet, low dusting but provide good stopping power cold with a good bite and even when there heated up they perform well.

I just ordered a rear set of stop techs today actually.

That's good to hear. I'm going to be doing some autocross and a track day this year so we will see how they hold up.

I always use what Sam Strano recommends. One time I didn't and bad things happened, bad things...
