Driveshaft question

I know I am probably in wrong Forum but how much leeway do I have with my driveshaft not being straight from front to back, 1 inch, 2 inch or more, example if I draw a line from trans to rear can it be off say how far?, thx Dana

You meaning the driveshaft itself or the trans in relation to the rear end?

Example: say trans is pointing straight back to rear, and when I slide my driveshaft in, how many inches can I be off from being straight back, hope I make sense, thx Dana

I mean on most cars it's very gradual but I'm going to assume this is for a truck which will make the angle pretty steep, If that the case you just make sure your pinion angle and your trans are parallel with each other and it shouldn't be an issue. If one or the other is off it'll smoke U-joints left and right

sorry I don't mean the angle I mean say as it comes back before the angle can it be off say 3 inches before I start with my angle, hope I am not confusing u, thx again Dana
