How much play is normal when testing tie rods?
Long story:
I had my power steering rack rebuilt by a sponsor 6 months ago and 3000 miles. At the same time I had them install Moog inner tie rods and I replaced the outer rods as well. Yesterday I went to rotate tires and I decided to check ball joints and tie rods. I found the driver side has maybe 1/8" wiggle when pushing/pulling at 3 and 9 o'clock, along with a clunk coming from inside the rack. The clunk sounds like it's coming from where the intermediate shaft connects to the rack. I removed the intermediate shaft and the clunk is still there so 100% NOT the intermediate shaft making noise. The hub isn't loose and when wiggling the tire the outer tie rod isn't moving, whatever is going on seems to be in the rack. Ball joint are solid.
The car goes straight down the road and when I had it aligned the tech didn't say anything. The passenger side has a small amount of play as well. I don't know if this is normal tolerance for f-bodies or not. Any help is appreciated!
