Default 3 point STB


Fabrications are easy using these as a template. Noticeable improvement in steering precision, bump steer and chassis rigidity

3 point are more common for 3rd gen than 4th gen....i cant name offhand who even makes a 3 pt for 4th gen

Previously I have explained how on my 98, using a 3/4" bolt through the windshield surround, this design keeps the strut towers from moving side to side and front to back. Using a small video camera under the hood of an OEM car with a two-point strut tower brace, it's easy to see the movement in just normal driving. With this, imprecise steering ends and under braking the car is much better.

is the cowl area in a 4th gen smaller then the 3rd gen for a mounting point ?

When the 3rd gen was introduced in 82, it had a 90 hp engine with options up to 165 hp. By 92 the base hp was 140, optioned to 245. Such power did nothing to encourage GM to increase structural integrity. The unibody was always flimsy and its accident morbidity got the attention of the Feds. In the name of safety, roll over protection became the mandate. Ironically the killer was the way the car accordioned. So, the 4th gen got a much thicker and more robust windshield surround, including the cowl, and nothing to strengthen between the front and rear sub frames. Which is why the two gens have very different cowls and an aftermarket 3-point STB for a 3rd gen doesn't fit a 4th gen. Which is why I wrote "fabricate".
