Does anyone do their own alignments? This is probably directed more towards the track/road racing guys.

Yep.
Using Mark One eyeball, and a TAPE measure for decades.
It's relatively EASY to get within 10 or 15 % of perfect by eyeball..

Recently ( six months) got a home-garage grade set of alignment sticks which gets you the last 10 percent of perfect.... Which is a much LESS dramatic improvement than " Roughing it in "

I had to do one with the method above a few years ago....
Put new tie rod ends on my TA and **** was so far off for some reason, un drivable. Tires pointed out and 30 mph was my max speed.
Used a string, tape measure and digital caliper to get it in the ballpark so I could get it to the alignment shop.
Wish I still had the paperwork for after the alignment but I just about nailed it and honestly couldn't tell much of a difference before vs after.
