Default Not a road racer

Hey everyone, not a road racer or auto crosser, just wanted to run things by people to get feedback, as a precursor, I have BMR LCA’s, PHB and torque arm, I obviously have the factory 32/19 set up on my 00 SS and I replaced the bushings with poly on the sway bars and end links, so next step I’m asking do I need 3pt subframe connectors or will 2pt be sufficient, car is just a red light stop sign fun car but I want to make the car solid, also, is a STB worth the money, thanks everyone…

3 point SFCs aren't necessary. If it's a t-top car, 2 point SFCs will probably help and they can provide a good jacking point. I don't run SFCs, but mine is a hardtop.

I think people are split on whether a STB is worthwhile. It won't hurt aside from the small amount of extra weight and it gives you something convenient to lean on when you're in the engine bay.

I'd probably invest in a good set of shocks before I did any of that. Single adjustable Koni's will make more of a difference in ride and handling than all of those other things combined.

Former boss had both a 1997 convertible and a 1997 SS that he auto-crossed hard about 18-20 years ago

both cars had shocks, springs and urethane bushings, and ran track-only wheels/tires when autocrossing.

Agree with above that shocks/springs would be the first place I would go.

I know from my helping Dan replace parts often ....
the convertible cracked one of the front wheels, took out a ball joint and blew the rear diff before the subframe connectors were added. He didnt race it much after that as his girlfriend absconded the car after they got together.
the SS cracked two wheels, grenaded the T56 when the shift fork broke and the trans went into 2 gears coming off the track.

the SS did not get SFC's or any other bracing, although it could have used them looking back

depends on your driving if you need to add bracing

Not much add, and I think it might have been you who posted on one of the Facebook pages about this same thing. Frankly, you get better answers on forums more often than Facebook.

As I stated there and many times before over YEARS. SFC's are not an end-all, be-all. They have their uses, fixing poor damping which is the WORST single part of these cars from GM before you add 20-30 years of age isn't one of the things subframes can do.
