Default Progressive Springs

What exactly is the point of progressive springs? I was looking at some ebiachs and saw a set of progressives. how much do they lower the car? are there any advantages of running them? anyone with pics of them on their car?

Thanks

Usually any time you make a spring shorter, it also gets stiffer. The point of a progressive spring is to retain as much of the stock softness so you can have a lowered car that doesn't ride like one. They do this by having a few soft coils and a few stiff coils. So as the spirng compresses, at first it's soft, then these weaker coils get stacked up and you are on the stiff ones to prevent bottoming out.

The down side is these springs aren't any good for road racing or autox, because for this the spring needs to be stiff through out the entire travel.
