LCA problem
LCA problem I'm taking off my LCAs to put the stock ones back on, and came across a strange problem. My passenger side STOCK LCA will NOT go back on! It's about 1/4" off when I push it up to line the holes up for the bolt, on the rearend bracket. This can't be normal?? The driver's side went on without any problem. Any...suggestions?
Are the ones you are removing adjustable? If so, you made them too short and that is why the stock pieces wont fit. To fix this, adjust the aftermarket LCA and make it longer to push the axle into the right position. Put the weight of the car on the axle again to set this length, then take the LCA out and slip the stock one back in.
DO NOT remove the LCA's with the axle on jack stands. The car could fall off the stands if the axle shifts. Please jack the car up, support the frame, remove the lca, install the stock one and gently push the axle into place to line up the bolt holes (you can lay down and use your foot, get help from a friend, whatever). Make sure the car is supported and the wheels are blocked so it can't roll and as always, be careful.
