Default Strut stuck in front

I've done a search and all I can find is people that are replacing both the shocks and struts. I'm just replacing the shocks here (the stockers only have around 35k miles on them and I am on a tight budget). I have the nut off the strut but can't get it to come out of the brace holding the shock and strut together. I've soaked it with WD40. Cutting the strut bolt or ruining the brace is not an option as I am on a budget and trying to save everything I can (already have to buy front sway bar studs as they both twisted and one broke in half when I was taking them off). Any tips to getting the brace off the strut/shock?

Man, if you haven't got it yet, can you explain what you are talking about? I can't follow.

It's a shock and once the nut is off the thing should fall apart easily. If you are replacing the shocks only, why can't you cut the bolt?

Yup that was the part that was causing the problems. After putting tons of WD40 on it and pretty much giving it a bath in the stuff for a day, it came off with some coaxing. Got my springs installed though, thanks for the replys

So your on the road again?

Some folks have so much trouble getting them off that they just break the stud or cut it.

So did you replace the shocks or the springs? I never could tell which one you were replacing.
