Default Chromoly???

I am about to start ordering my suspension pieces and I was just wondering if the chromoly parts were really worth the extra money? I know that it is lighter,etcc....but would these only really benefit high hp cars? I don't mind spending the extra if it will benefit me...thanks

i would recomend it. only a bit more and if you want to go wilder in the future you won't have to replace it later. the way I look a modding is do it once and do it right.

I think it all depends on the part in question. If its a small part, say less than 6lbs, then going with a chromoly would probably save less than 1 lb. If they want an extra $100 for that 1 lb, I would go with the steel version and skip a few big macs if you are worried about that pound. If it were a big part, for example a roll cage, where the weight savings would be very significant, I think I would splurge for the chromoly. But to each his own.

chromoly is not lighter than mild steel. it is stronger and therefore you can use a thinner wall material and have the same strength. most sactioning bodies specify rolecage tubing by material. NASA says cages must be built of .120" wall if mild steel and .095" if chromoly. this is just an example.

I say do it if you plan on hardcore racing your car. If car is a DD and see's track every now and then, I say dont worry with it.
