Default Quick Answer Needed.LT1 And LS1 Steering Racks...same?

I need a new rack for my 99 WS6...is the steering rack outta an LT1 the same?

They arent the same. I dont remember what is different, but i think its the joints. Hope that helps.

No. Where the steering linkage attaches is "D" shaped.

The "D" on a late model rack is rotated 90* when compared to the early model. So, your steering wheel would not be straight ...

Plus, I believe the LS1 gearbox is closer to the frame rail than the LT1.

No first hand knowledge of this but ...

I thought the difference was a K-member difference and not the actual, physical size of the rack.

I could be wrong ... have been before ...
