Default pinion leaking?

So without my knowledge my mom decided shed drive my car to get it inspected today. (which i am still absolutely livid about). So I get home from the 8 hour grind only to have her tell me "not only did i drive your car against your will, but your "rear pinion" is leaking", (i'm paraphrasing except the rear pinion part). I have yet to climb under my car as I won't have time until this weekend. But
1.) garage under car has been spotless for a good long time now. That still hasn't changed.
2.) Where the hell is the "rear pinion"?!
Hence I wanted to get my own inspection done, allowing myself to avoid this entirely. Any ideas for a) where i should look and b) what might need to be done?

Pinion seal is where the driveshaft meets the differential. I think all F-bodys leak, although it never reaches the ground.

Mine leaks. It slings rearend grease all over the underbody. That grease is so thick it will most likely never touch the ground or make a spot if it does.

It's more of seeping.

I noticed this after a year since picking it up. Checked the fluid and it never got low enough to notice it. Only changed it twice.

Been driving it like this since.

the gear on the shaft that's towards the lower right corner of the display is the pinion gear, there's an seal used on that shaft to prevent the gear oil from leaking out of the rearend housing. With that being said, that's where the leak/seep is coming from.

So its differential fluid thats leaking out then? According to GM you don't need to ever change differential fluid, which i was surprised by.... Is that something to check?

Correct.
Read the owners manual. It says to change them out at 7,500 miles first.

I'd just change the fluid once to get the stuff out of there from the break-in and be done with it.

No need to bother until the rearend cover is removed which then the fluid will drain out.
