Default QA1 Installation Question.....

Is there any reason to have a performance shop install my QA1's or could have my local mechanic do the work? Just thinking about saving on some labor rates if it's just like any other spring/shock install.....

It's real straightforward. You could do it yourself. Where are ya located in the country? If you're not comfortable doing it, I'm sure you could find a member here interested in helping out for some cash.

Extremly easy install. You will need to pick up some grade 8 nuts bolts and washer for the two lower mounting points in the rear. You'll need like 6-8 washers total to space the shocks away from the rear since they might hit.

Agreed. The rear shocks were the easiest mod I've done to my car. You can get good instructions from www.ls1howto.com. I looked this up and had them on my car in an hour. You might want to get some locktite also. I've heard that the front shocks aren't as easy as the rear only because you have to take apart more to get to it, but easy none the less.

Is it a sure thing that I'll need the washers? If so, what size?

Edit: If I use Locktite, should I use it on all the bolts or only certain ones?

I would use a little on all bolts because the shocks take all the vibration. I didn't need washers on my rear shocks but I have Bilstein HDs and have stock springs. Someone else might have a better opinion about the washers.
