Have a dumb question
That in turn got me to wondering, with as badly as these cars dive and squat, it would seem the suspension is rather soft, and there is a fair amount of travel at stock ride height, so... how can they ride so harshly/roughly at the same time? Is it just the villified stock DeCarbon shocks?

The Decarbons have considerably more compression damping than they really need, this leads to a harsh ride. They are very hard to compress (nearly acting as an auxilary spring), or at least considerably harder to compress than they really need to be (under driving conditions). So, they are a major part of the problem, that's true.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll be corrected.
