alignment needed if replacing shocks & springs? Case 1: i replace my stock shocks & springs with stockers off of a 2002 z28
Case 2: i replace my stock shocks with stockers off of a 2002 z28 and buy lowering springs.
In both cases do i need and alignment?

My recommendation would be to get an alignment either way unless you have had it recently aligned. As far as necessary, I would only see an alignment necessary on case 2. Reason being that the lowering springs are going to take away camber (read as negative) and change your toe setting. This needs to be checked and adjusted to get max performance out of the new setup and to try to eliminate tire issues.
Do you currently have a performance alignment? If not that may be an option if going with the lowering springs. Do a search there are lots of threads with specs to choose from.

Camber -0.3, -0.3
Caster +5.4, +5.4
Toe 00.0, 00.0
