front shock spring assembly explodes !!! need some help

front shock spring assembly explodes !!! need some help I just finished putting a new bilstein in the coil and perch assembly, had the spring compressors completely off except for one of the grips at the end which was stuck between the coils, as I attempted to maneuver it off, the whole thing exploded!!!!! the spring shot up in the air...wow...pretty scary...anyway...what happened was the spring perch (upper mount) is just rotten I guess and the area around the rod hole just tore away! So now I have a worthless mount, with a big honkin' hole in it and I suppose this is a dealer only part.....anybody bought one elsewhere? Part# 17999215 LH but i'll be picking up the RH too after this.

On the other side the mount fell apart when I tried to remove it. If any of you guys are doing front front shocks on a car that has some miles on it, i'd just buy the new mounts and have them ready to go, same as sway bar links......I've never seen such a bunch of rusted bolts nuts, and worn out rubber...what a mess, I had to cut the shock nut off the deCarbon and then cut the metal sleeve off that tore away from the mount..
The mounts aren't cheap btw, $55 to $70 a piece depending on where you get them.

I had to get one from a junk yard can't rememeber what i paid. The only place i found one was at the dealer and they said it only came with the upper control arm and they wanted some outragous(sp) price like $300+. Unforutantly I don't have an O'reilly around me.
