Probably nothing broke. As the tires oscillated between breaking loose and regaining grip, the change in torque load made the trasmission twist and shake the shifter.

Could it also be his mounts? I know my dd's (240sx) shifter used to look like it was doing laps around the console because the tranny and motor mounts were shot. After I replaced them it's solid as a rock. I hear that F-car tranny mounts breaking is somewhat common.

Are you still having the shifter move on you, or just that one time?

You might have a tranny mount go bad.

Peace,
Craig.

Its still doing it, After the first time I noticed it, I put in a new poly tranny mount. it seemed to help just a small bit =(

Maybe I need a torque arm? but its not wheelhop

suspension wise the car already has LG PHB, Sway bars, Coil-Overs, SFC, STB, LCA, lower control arm relocation brackets.
