Default 275,300,325 spring?

I am trying to decide which spring to go with to put on my front QA1 "R" series shocks. I just purchased the front a arms and i will be buying the k member next month. The car is an auto and i was just seeing what everyone else is running and pros and cons of what you have. I plan on running the 275lb spring. What are your suggestions?

So your choices are basically a tiny bit softer than stock, about stock, and a tiny bit stiffer than stock.

The difference between the 275 and 325's is but 15%, and all but the best springs vary by 2-5% of their stated rate. In short, it really is hair-splitting.

I'd go 300. Basically stock which GM felt was a good rate. 325 is stiffer, which the HAL's don't need to deal with. MHO

I'm running the 300# springs up front, this is what hal recommended for street/strip use. The 275# spring is a pure drag spring and they do not recommend it for street use

Would this be your recommendation for a manual car also?

I heard somewhere that since a manual shocks the driveline harder, possibly bringing the front end up higher, the stiffer springs would keep it from bouncing/bottoming out when comming down.

An automatic will typically bring the front end off of the ground easier.

If you're talking for drag use, do a search in the drag racing tech section. I balieve it was MADMAN who posted a while back giving recommendations. I cant remember all, but I remember him mentioning that for ultimate weight transfer in a straight line, M6's should go with the 325's if tehy're full weight, or 300's if they have weight reduction. Can't remember the A4's, but try the search, I know that thread is out there somewhere.

275 for autos with reduction and 300 for stock
