Help with strut spring assembly

Help with strut spring assembly I am trying to assemble hal struts with hal springs. The lower rubber seat is throwing me off. Can I throw it away or do I need it. The spring diameter is smaller than the stock spring so it sits on top of the lip. Any tips?

THere are two piecies that are on the bottom of the stock spring. One is a metal piece and one is rubber. Do you just let the spring ride on the nuts that spin around the strut?
Right, but you are using the Hal springs with their shocks right? the stockers have a seat on the shock and the other peice you are talking about. you dont use them unless you are using the stock springs with a adapter on the Hal shock. Now on the QA-1's you thread on the two nuts and put the thin washer between the Hal spring and the glam nuts(the two nuts on bottom). It supposed to make it easier to adj. when installed but dont. Before you install on your car start of with about 7-3/4 to 8 inches from t-bar (on bottom of shock) to the lowwer lock nut. It will sit high till it settels. It will be easyer to lower than raise the car if it is to high. But the top will be like the stock set-up. If it dont line up on top and bottom, as long as it is together you can twist the combo to fit. I have the 300lb springs on mine and have driven over a year on them every day and love them.

yeah thanks for all the info! I was at a friends house today and he bought his new and I bought mine used from a guy. SO i dont have the flat washer and the nuts for the top threaded part of the rod. I am going to call QA1 monday and see if I can get them to mail me the washers and nuts.
