What angle on pinion???
So on a hard launch, the pinion flexes up a little. By setting it negative, this hard launch pulls the pinion up to around 0 as opposed to several degrees positive.
This hard launch is the most stress the pinion is ever under, so by having it close to 0 degrees when things are under stress, you are less likely to break something.
The flip side is, you will be off 0 (negative) the rest of the time, which causes some wear. A degree or two wont hurt anything too much and shouldnt cause too much increase in vibration, but ask yourself if how often you do hard launches and if they are hard enough to merit a negative angle the rest of the time you are driving.
