Rubbing issues
I currently have a set of 18" Z06 replicas with 275/40's all around. Also have Eibach Pro-kit springs and stock de-carbon shocks. The problem is that while under heavy turning or if I go over a bump my wheels will rub against the inside fender walls. I bought some $5 spring spacer things and put em between the coils to see if that would fix the problem but just gave me a little more room before it will rub. Now, my questions are:
1. Yes, I'm upgrading my shocks, but will getting new shocks such as Bilstien HD or KYB AGX Adjustable's solve the problem?
2. I'm getting new tires soon/near the same time as shocks, should I get the same tire size or will I run into the same problem that I have now? If so, what size should I get? 265/40? 275/35? I don't want to get any lower profile tire than 35, as the ride comfort level goes to **** and it looks just plain doofy on these cars.
Any insight on this would be very helpful, as this tire rubbing is causing unnessacary tire wear and sucks while trying to drive...spirited.
BFH = Big F'in Hammer. Just pound down the high places that show rub marks, spray paint and repeat until no rubbing. But it will need to be a really big BFH; not a little carpenters hammer. What non-car people call a sledge hammer. I use a torsion bar off a 3/4 ton Chevy truck in leu of the BFH.
A lot of vendors offer APHB's, just don't get one with the adjustment in the middle of the bar.
And with spacers, would I need to get longer bolt studs?
