general drum brake help?!

general drum brake help?! i just got a DD and its being a PITA. monday i washed the car, then went to move it, when i did that and i hit the brakes the right rear made a LOUD banging noise. did the same thing when i went to move it in the am. then i drove down the street riding the brakes and it seemed to stop after that and was fine all day yesterday. went to move the car just now and it happened again. the whole way home and when we tested teh car, it didnt do this. im not a drum brake expert but i took the drum off and the adjuster on the bottom was not properly on one of the shoes. i just dont see why it can happen then go away then come back. its a 95 grand am and if anyone has any idea, let me know i am going to screw with it todya
I've got drum brakes on my DD (Ford Escort), which I just rebuilt this weekend, so I might be of some use to you.

I would make sure all your springs are still intact. If the bottom adjuster came off, I'd bet the spring that holds the shoes together on that end either let go or is stretched out. I could see where the drum itself would hold the shoes in place for a little while, but it's definitely something you'd want to fix.
