If it's the rear's definitely do it yourself. If it's the fronts, you might have problems getting the upper shock mount disassembled if it's rusty. But other than that, a basic socket set, a pickle fork (or makeshift equivalent) and a couple hours taking your time should cover it. Oh, and a big torx socket if you haven't yet switched it out for a normal bolt on the drivers side.
LS1howto.com should have all the necessary tools listed for the spring/shock swap. If you decide upon a shop, they'll probably charge you at least $250 unless you have contacts.
