Default Swaybar endlink question

I getting squeeking from the new swaybar, need to go back and grease the inside of the bushings, but I'm also getting some other noise..
When the endlinks were installed, the ES bolt was too short, so we ended up using the stock bolt and nut/washer. The stock is a smaller dia/thread.
Just wondering what everyone else did..

I saw somewhere when I did my sways that you weren't supposed to grease the endlinks. I greased one side before I read that, and that side squeaked. What kind a swaybars did you buy?

edit: We also had to use a jack on the rear swaybar to push it up high enough to get the aftermarket endlinks to connect.

I just put my ES endlinks on today and noticed the same thing you did. It looks like the rod is too short. After further investigation that is not the case. It is infact shorter than the stock ones which makes it difficult to install the first one. Being shorter they hold your sway bar in a little different position but nothing to be concerned about.

What I did was jack up one side of the car, and support it with a jackstand under the frame-rail. Then gently jack up the a-arm to put the bolt in reach of the swaybar. Go ahead and totally tighten that endlink up and go to work on the other side of the car. You should have a much easier time getting this endlink on now that the other one is the same length.

I didn't grease my endlinks and they are completely silent. You may want to try tightening them a bit past the factory spec of 16ft/lbs to quiet them down a little. Tighten them up til you see the poly compress a little and you know you're getting to the right area.

Alan, you aren't getting the noise from your endlinks. I have the same setup on my car, and they are dead silent. I am willing to bet money that those poly sway bar bushings are making all the noise. We'll see, i'll give you a call today when I can.

When I did endlinks all around a couple years ago I thought the rear ones were too short as well. What I ended up doing though was disconnect both endlinks at once. Then the bar is free to pivot up & down so you don't have to strain as much putting the new endlinks on.
