Default Swaybars

I'd like to believe that a heavy duty sway bar in conjunction with shocks that sit immediately and soft springs would be a good combo.
Is it worth the cash to purchase the BMR Heavy duty sway bar?
Would it also help the tranfer of weight if the front swaybar was off?
I am about to do this and have heard mixed reactions around here.
I already have adj. Konis softened up quite a bit, LCA's, SFC's, and Panhard.
SS springs are stiil stock.

Default Re: Swaybars

From a handling standpoint, it's a good idea to run a soft spring and a stiffer set of sway bars. GM did this on the 3rd Gen F-Bodies...especially the Pontiacs. Just make sure the set is matched.

For drag racing, removing the front sway bar will help transfer weight to the rear better. You could also benefit by running a larger rear sway bar, but keep in mind this is a drag-only mod. You will lift an inside rear tire on hard turns with a stiff rear sway bar and no front sway bar. Been there, done that.

Thanks Patrick.
I abandoned the roadcourse/street racer a while ago so I'm less concerned about great handling.
But it is a daily driven drag racer so I can give a little with the problem you speak of.
Is the BMR kit a good setup or is there a better one for the money?

FWIW, I couldn't tell any difference in weight transfer w/ my front sway bar disconnected vs. leaving it intact. My best 60' of 1.66 was with it connected. I had it disconnected yesterday, and my best 60' was a 1.68...go figure.
I'm going to install a 1.25" Suspension Techniques rear sway bar on my SS. I had one on my T/A, and it was great. It's not as "hardcore" as the BMR or Wolfe drag racing sway bar, so you won't run into a big compromise on the street with it. It'll actually make it really nice to drive on the street again if you do pull the front sway bar off. I could tell a significant difference when I installed it on my T/A.

Trevor could you weigh that thing, and your stock one too? I want to change my rear swaybar, so I was glad to see this post. I'm pretty much looking for the lightest, cheapest, not necessarily stiffest rear swaybar i can find.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Good to know Trevor.
I haven't put my old swaybar back in since the rearend change.
I've just been running with the front one so I don't have complete wandering on the street.
I'll notice any difference as I 60ft. 1.68 75% of the time.
Do you know who has the best price on that swaybar setup you're getting?
