Re: Installing Front Shocks, tools?
I had some eibachs on my car for awhile and I installed them myself. On the strut itself there is a spring perch and it has sort of a tab where the end of the spring butts up against. The top is the same way....You just have to make sure that it will go back onto the car. You might have to rotate the spring perch attached to the strut. It's not difficult at all. Took me about an hour and a half to do my front springs. The backs were REALLY easy they only take about 20 minutes.

If it says Kent Moore on it then it's expensive <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">
I did mine myself and the only problem I had was getting the nut off the top of the shock on one side. I ended up cutting it off. Other than that it was pretty easy.

Installing Front Shocks, tools?
I have a question for those of you who have installed your own front shocks. In the past, I just took out the spring / shock assembly and had a shop install the new shock in the assembly, but it's still expensive, and a lot of shops won't do work on parts you haven't bought there. I know you can use an outside spring compressor to compress the spring, but how did you ensure that the shock and upper mount were properly aligned when you put on the new shock? The dealers use a Kent Moore tool to align things. Do you just eyeball it? Has anyone tried to buy the Kent Moore tools? Were they expensive?
Thanks,
Thanks,

A piece of chalk or light colored crayon is all you need. Just make some reference marks on the upper and lower spring perches BEFORE disassembly and make sure it goes back the same way.
