Default Tire Height question

I'm trying to remember, are 245-50-16 tires 26" tall or 25.75" tall?

or does it depend on the tire itself?
thanks in advance

The nominal size for that spec is 25.65 inches tall...but each manufacturer will vary somewhat.

Check the manufacturer's web site (if they have one) for the exact spec. (Dare I say) All the major brands post specs on their sites.

If you can't find it on their site, you can try this alternative:

Mark the center bottom of the tire on the sidewall, and make a matching mark on the pavement. Drive the car straight just enough for one full rotation of the tire, and make another mark on the pavement where the sidewall marker is once again in the center of the contact patch. Measure the distance between the two marks on the pavement, then divide by Pi (~3.14). Round to the nearest 1/4" for use in HPP3.

Or you can use this calculation in the future:
(Again I found in my SC mag)

Width
Width/25.4 (1"=25.4mm) = width in inches

Sidewall height
Aspect ratio x width

Total sidewall height
2x sidewall height

Overall height
Total sidewall height x rim dia.

Using above formula I came up with 25.66" for your tire of 245/50/16.
