Default Getting Rid of Power Steering???

Here is my idea. My first car was a 1993 Dodge Intrepid and I remember the time it lost the serpentine belt (aka: lost all accessories). Since the engine did no longer have to turn a power steering pump, it had much more power. The only problem was I had to fight the fluid in the system when turning the car. I was wondering if it would be possible to remove the power stearing pump, remove all the lines, drain the fluid from the rack, and cap off the fitting on the rack. Without any fluid in the rack, it should not be "that" hard to turn. If I am correct, this should result in my having a manual rack and pinion steering set up without having to buy a new rack. What do you think?

Thanks Guys, <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />
