For cornering without question, Koni's.

You could get great performance from the revalved Bilstein's that Sam Strano sells...

:hmm:

Factory springs? I'm surprised the Bilstein HD's are blowing up on you, haven't heard that before.

Did the shocks blow out, or did your break them. I have heard of one case where someone missed a shift and broke a set off the mounts.

I missed a shift and both of my Bilsteins snapped in half at the shaft. Not sure if the same wouldn't have happened with any other shock. The way I see it, my entire suspension is so beefy, all the force may have been transmitted to the shocks. I went ahead and replaced them with another pair of Bilsteins.

You were probably off-roading with that stock 4x4 suspension weren't you? lol But really, its unfortunate that your shocks broke. I think something is wrong with how they were installed or possibly with your driving.

I've autocrossed and had wheelhop on a downshift and haven't broken a Bilstein.

I see from your sig that you "wised up" and got Konis. If my trip into Manhattan last week could not shatter/blow out my Konis, NOTHING will kill them!!

I just got home from Manhattan as well. The roads there were bad, then I drove up to Montreal. They are just as bad, but everywhere. I wasn't driving my Camaro though and I was glad that I wasn't.

I have Koni's SA's on the front and Bilsteins out back. If I break them again, I'll go with Koni's out back. Performance wise, the Bilsteins work perfect for me, so I took another chance.

The only way I know of (and have seen) to break a shock in such a way is if you TA is not keeping the axle from winding up. FWIW, Bilstein's have a solid rod, as do 3rd gen Koni's, but the 4th gen rears have a hollow shaft. If you keep having this trouble, you problem lies elsewhere I'm afraid, and going to Koni's won't help it. Bear in mind I use them myself and sell a ton of them (Bilstein's too).
