I am in the process of purchasing a set of 245/45/17 and 275/35/18 tires. Three combos that I could find in these sizes are listed below. Out of these three, which one would you recommend. The car isn't a daily driver but I still would like to have a performance tire which has some resemblance of ride comfort.

I went to Tire rack and compared a bunch of tires. The one that kept coming on top of my list was the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position. Its available in the sizes you want and got great reviews
The one on your list that works for me is the Pilot Sports

Personally, I hate Michelins. I'd sell them if someone gave me a set. The Kuhmos are good for the price. No holds barred, I have to agree with Bob on the S-03s - pricey though.

Take a peak at the Tire poll I put out there. 33 responses as I write this email.

I currently have the Michelin XGT Z4's, and I'm not real impressed with them. They are an all-season tire, which means the dry and wet traction are compromised for better grip in snow, which is why I got them. If you don't deal with snow, get a summer tire for dry and wet traction. Previously I had the Firestone SZ50's and they were great in dry and wet, but wore out quickly. Look at the Firestone SZ50 EP's, as they are supposed to be improved over the original SZ50's.

I just put 275/35-18 S-03's on my car a couple weeks ago. The suspension mods have certainly helped, but the tire is very grippy! Almost to the point of frustration, when hard braking on Minnesota's (ahem) less than perfect roads. It wants to follow all kinds of imperfections in the road, but they are just doing their job. I've also noticed that my wet traction seems to be a lot more predictable. I was running the stock 245/50-16's. One thing I've noticed is that the tires heat up pretty easily, but they are ZR rated, some I'm hoping someone took that into consideration, in the design process. All in all, no complaints, not yet at least.

Hmm, never measured tire temps before I bought my S-03's. During really long roadtrips the tire temps rarely exceeded 100*F when I stopped for gas. They do tend to like the hot pavement, though!
They don't howl going around corners like my Pilot Sports did, and the rear-end seems to have much better control when hauling *** around tight curves.
Only thing that slightly bothers me is that I had to pick a 265/40/17 tire, as that's the only size they make that'll fit my 17x9.5" wheels.
I find them very predictable in rain. On wet pavement I can jab my throttle in most instances and the car will usually just lunge ahead. If the tires do break loose when going straight, most of the time the car keeps going straight ahead. If you're in a curve they'll grab pretty quickly after letting up on the gas.
I bought my S-03's for ~$220 per tire. the 275/40/17's from Michelin & BFG were $270-290 each.
