Although there are some companies which sell cross-drilled rotors as an actual performance upgrade, in our extensive testing we have seen no improvement to be had by simply crossdrilling stock rotors ...
... In racing, crossdrilling was designed to alleviate a problem known as out-gassing. In some of the older pad compounds ...
... Although Baer offers crossdrilling as an option on their systems, it is offered as a cosmetic option only ...
Now ... to answer your question ...
Cheap upgrades ????
Do a complete brake system flush with Ford HD truck brake fluid. It's ~$4 a bottle and 3 bottles should do the whole su=ystem.
Next, pads. Ask yourself ... Do I mind cleaning brake dust off my car? As you increase in performance on brake pads, they will increase the amount of dust generated. It's just the way it is.
For the street, I've never felt brake pad fade with OEM pads. I've felt the OEM fluid boil, but never pad fade.
Finally, rotors ... Autozone rotors made by Aimco work really well, even under EXTREME conditions. I've seen the crack, but have never felt or heard of the warping. And at ~$40 each, you can't beat that.
