Banging noise.. ball joints?
OK, banging noise at low speed hitting small bumps mainly from the right side. I'm beginning to believe its the ball joints. I re-tightened the upper one, with no luck. Maybe the lower one, but I thought I would see uneven tire wear.....
HELP!
HELP!
I did replace the sway bar and endlinks, but everything is in place and properly torqued.
You would think a banging would be obvious....
but NOTHING seems to be loose!

Broken shock, spring? I know you're looking at the ball joint area but I'm taking shoots from other areas, have you tried bouncing the car up and down with your hands to see if it will make the same noise?
Retightening the ball joint won't do you any good if it's worn out, what year and how many miles does your car have on it? Ball joints on today's cars can go a long way before wearing out, what about the front sway bar or end link?

let me know if yours does this: http://www.big-shoe.net/help.WMV
I get mixed reviews about it being normal since gm put a lot of play in our rear end axles. I dont like it, too bad I didnt really notice if it did it before. You have to kinda shake the wheel hard.
I get clunking going over subtle tarstrips and uneven pavement, I didnt have that a few months ago.

Dark Age - I know its not the shock because I installed a second new one (should have mentioned new Bilstien HD shocks all around)and still get the noise. Damien could tell you, its not the shock.
Bigshoe - I'm going to try shaking the front wheel like that (should have mentioned front end noise). So far I haven't duplicated the noise by hand.
-Thanks for the responses-

so your noise is in the front?
if your front wheels do what my rear wheels do- your probably in some deep trouble. I doubt they will be as bad if anything.

I swear I have the same problem! I took the car to about 10 tire and brake shops (midas, big 10, firestone, etc). Then when I went to SEARS to get some tires put on (Sumitomo runflats), they check the car and tell me that its the bushings in the right rear lower control arm. Friday, I took the right rear LCA off and found out that the metal around the bushings and bushings were worn out, damaged, and loose. Now I'm in the process of ordering aftermarket LCA's.

I have ordered some prothane bushings from BMR for the front upper & lower control arms, but they come without the "shells". I'm guessing they are the sleeves that house the bushings. Any install info available?
