Default K Member?

Can someone confirm for me that the part I damaged is the k-member? Here is a link to the pictures I took:

Pictures

I know the first set of pictures is the upper control arm. The second set is the damaged part in question and the picture and the very bottom shows the entire part. The bent piece is on the back side of of the part I am using to jack up the car.

Also, can someone post some pics of an installed tubular k-member if this is in fact the part I damaged?

That whole thing that is above the piece of wood you have on the jack, is the k member. It's what the a-arms attach to, and where the motor bolts into the car. The pics after the pics of the a-arms are all pics of the k-member.

I'm not really seeing any damage though. What exactly happened? I don't have my k-member memorized but I don't see anything out of the ordinary in any of the pics. Maybe some arrows in the pics would help?

Look at the point where the top and the bottom half of the k member come together and have that little downturn. It has been compressed and pushed apart further than it should. I added a circle to the first picture of the upper control arm and to the first picture of the k member. Thank you for confirming that it is indeed the k member. Maybe you'll be able to see where the damage is now with the circles added. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Okay - I see what you're talking about. I'm pretty sure mine looks the same way. I was wire-tying my o2 sensors to the kmember after my header install, and there were places with gaps like in that pic. I don't know for sure if I have a gap in that exact place - I'd have to check. Is the kmember seperated anywhere else? I can't see that gap being unusual unless the rest of it was seperated too, know what I mean?

The gap is supposed to be there like the pictures on the right. The pictures don't really do the condition justice... There is an obvious seperation when you see it in person.
