Default rear shock install question

To get the carpet up, to get to the top shock bolts, do you have to remove that whole big plastic side panel? Or can you somehow get the carpet out from under it?

If you look close the carpet has been pre-cut. Just separate the carpet and fold down for access.

As BLUEBYU mentioned, you don't have to remove the big side panels. The carpet should tuck under. jmX has a nice install document that helped me:
