Default Brake light

Whenever I would apply my emergency brake, the brake light would blink. The brake handle has almost no resistance when I apply it. Did the emergency brake go out? If so, what went wrong and how do I fix it. <img border="0" alt="[Firebird]" title="" src="graemlins/formula.gif" />

That is because the E-brake is a piece of crap! Sort of hard to explain but there is a small piece of metal about 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch that is used to hold the e-brake tight. This part gets stressed and breaks off I bought a new one and installed it but it did it the first time I applied the brakes. So I drilled a hold thought the part and put a bolt in it to make it work that way. I don't have any photos and unless your mechanically inclined it is a pain in the butt. bottom line you can buy the new part from the dealer for 75 bucks and it will do it again or take the brake handle apart and bolt it, if you look at the part and figure out how it functions you then will be able to see where you can drill and bolt it.
