I was at the dyno last week and a guy there had 315's on the 17 x 9's and they actually looked fine ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

To each their own ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The SS ZR1s are 17x9s and although the 315s will fit they won't offer a great contact patch. The smaller wheels may cause premature wear, due to crunching all that tire on the small rim.

I have a set of 315 BFG DR's on my 99 SS.. the car is lowered with sportlines, and the tires rub horribly. Even with modding the inner fender, they rubbed bad. And the stability of the car is bad too.. the car sways side to side on the freeway and doesnt handle nearly as good. Straight line performance is good though. Car launched great. Pics of my car with the tires are in my sig if you're interested...

They will fit but traction will be decreased quite a bit. I was going to do this until I went to Tire Kingdom (my buddy manages one) and he showed me a car like this. It looks good but everyone has said it's not a good idea, even the guy who did it. He just can't afford new rims yet.

Most of the tire manufacturers will tell you that the minimum recommended wheel width for a 315/35/17 is 10". Most I'd go on a 17x9" wheel would be 285's.
