Default Automatics with TCS (traction control)

For the people here who have automatic LS1's, do you use traction control when doing the 1/4 mile? Do you powerbrake and rev up to a certain rpm when you do the 1/4 mile? Do your wheels lock up immediately on take-off, or do you spin for awhile?

I powerbrake and rev up to about 1.0-1.5rpms and use the traction control when doing the 1/4 mile. At the moment my TA gives me the "Low Tread" light and has me spin a little before taking off. Thinking I might need more weight in the rear for a better take off...

Do you still have the stock converter? When I was running the stock one I'd launch from idle to get my best 60' Once I put in the YTP4500 it likes to be stalled around 2800-3000 for best performance. The one thing constant with both setups was that TCS was ALWAYS off. Once that light comes on the PCM is doing something to reduce engine output(reduce timing, close throttle, fuel shut off and applying brakes) with whatever it uses is going to slow you down.

Which tires are you using, Stock converter I was able to use the GSC's but I needed ET streets for the TP4500, alot also depends on the track you go to

Yeah, leave that puppy off when racing. It will only hurt you, the driver can manage the wheel spin.

At the moment, I have a stock converter (but a 2800-3000 stall converter waiting to be put on). I use the stock tires as well. So when I do go, I should NOT rev up at all? Just go starting from 0.0rpm. It's damn hard to control that tire spin with the TCS off, but I can do it. I'll give both ways a try and see what comes out better. Thanks.

leave it off. Learn to drive or buy better tires or both. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> the ABS/TCS linings are not huge. I would not burn them up drag racing.
