Default upper panhard brace question...

i see some people have removed it. what is the point of this brace? i don't remember it on my '93Z. i could be wrong though. Why is it there, and does it harm the car to remove it? this is for a drag car, but does drive on the street. if i'm getting an aftermarket PHB, does it matter if i remove it?

Mine has been gone all year, but I also did a Hotchkiss PHB to make sure that one bar could take it all.

I never though of it that way. Some people have drag queens so it doesn't matter to them, but for daily driving I'd probably leave it in.
