Default NEWBIE HERE WITH SOME ?S

i have a 2002 m6 z28 and was wondering what the best root to go was.im looking to improve my handling and traction(especially for future mods).
i will be going from 16 inch rims to 17s.also all of what i do has to be able to take an aftermarket
rearend so i dont have to buy it twice.i read through these links and its all gurbled now!with all this adjustable stuff ie..panhard lcas and such arent you throughing alignment out the window or is an alignment required everytime?oh well to sum it up im looking for good performing, lighter than stock, quite upgrade.(yet arent we all)i would prefer bolt on parts cause then i can do the work myself (i'd trust my welds like i trust my wife....ha!)also if i lower the car an inch it seems alot has to be done.is it true?or should the parts be changed anyway?sorry post is so erratic but alot to ask and typing is hard for me to come across.heres what i know i want to do: lower the car an inch
(what brand are good performers)
32/21 mil front rear swaybars
(which ones are hollow.weight savings?)
which shock performs good with lowered springs
(what else do i need to compliment the shocks and springs that are stronger and lighter than factory that will attach to a 12 bolt rearend in the future !!!)also was looking at ss 10 spoke 17s and zr1s anyone have chromes in mint condition for sale?17x9.5 thanks guys look forward to your input <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

If you page through the list of questions and answers that have been posted here, you will find that those who are successful will tell you that you are getting the cart before the horse.

You should get some seat time on a road course or AX, learn your personal driving style, then begin begin chnaging suspension set-up to suit your style.

And I say "on a road course" because you cannot set up a car to handle at it's best on the street. Too much debris, oil, trash and garbage to get a consistant feel.

I mean how would you be able to discern whether the corner your car just pushed through was a legit push because of suspension, someone dumped their soft drink on the road or the neighbor spewed grass clippings when he was mowing the grass?

So, your questions have no simple answers ...

Also, being impatient with those you are requesting answers from, especially on a holiday weekend, when there are tons of racing venues happening all over the USA doesn't help you get the answers any quicker. It's not like you are in the suspension check-out line at a Speed-Mart ...

Don't feel bad I am having the same problem with a question on stall of K-Member. If you don't have the ASAP Pulley, it will give you a tenth through the quarter. I can't remember everything you have but I would recommend lowered control arms first such as Metco control arms with relocation brackets--aides in good take-off. For more power port and polish the throttle body and MAF parts. I have a Random Technology torque arm, Hal shocks front and back with front drag springs, and I remove the front sway bar. I run Nitto tires in the rear with 17 wheels which are at home on street or track. I went with FLP Headers and SLP catback system with cutout. If you have any more questions--just ask and I will try to help you. Cheers and good luck.
