Default Drag radial question

Two questions really: would a 275/16 fit on a 8 in z28 rim and would the extra flex in the side wall make the tires hot and thus dangerous at high speeds (for extended periods like highway use: 85 mph x 3 hours). And if more dangerous, how much worse traction would a set of 245/16 sized drag radials get comparibly.

BTW what is the difference b/w drag radials and ET streets?

I think you'd be hard pressed to get a 275 tire on an 8" rim. If you did, I don't think I'd go to the store for beer with that setup. That's saying something; I like beer.

You would be much better off as far as traction, stability, and safety to go with the 255/50 on the 8 inch rim. You probably COULD do the 275, but it would cup and react badly on the highway.
I wouldn't drive 3 minutes at 85 like that, much less 3 hours!

Just how horrible would the handling be on those things? I mean will i have to go around every curve at 5 mph or what? I go to school on a mountain and the road down is very curvey, would i have a death wish to get drag radials?

For one no one makes a 275/50/16 drag radial, though Hoosier makes and autox and road race tire in that size. They would not last long on the street, and are a track only tire. I would also advise against BFG drag radials for your application, but Nitto drag radials would work very well. I have been using them for daily driver tires for years, and am currently using the 555RII road race variant of the tire. Unfortunately they are currently only available in a 275/40/17. That would be your best bet, to pick up a set of OEM 17x9's and go with the RII's. They are great in the turns (not that the 555R's are bad, because they are not).
