Default G2 suspension: poly vs. heim

Okay, I have poly/heim LCAs and a poly/heim panhard rod on my car now. The noise has finally gotten to me and the ride harshness isn't pleasant. I know that many people don't get any noise, but I do. Will replacing them with poly/poly pieces help with this? How will they affect wheel hop? I have none now. I never do any autocrossing or road-racing, and only ride around on street tires or drag tires, so I don't think suspension binding will be a big problem in the turns. Can I get some feedback from everyone on this idea? Thanks a lot!

IMO, road noise will be about the same. I've had poly/poly and now use poly/rod end.

If you don't race your car (other than straight line), changing to poly/poly won't make a dif you can notice.

Before you change, make sure all the jam nuts are tight, and try again. And the rod end should be on the axle with the poly end on the frame... some ppl install them wrong.

The first mods I did included the poly/poly arms and that took car of wheel hop on acceleration.

And for feedback: Why don't you autocross or road race??? It's to much fun, and will teach you a lot about your car. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

The 1LE arms will work for you. They have better bushings than stock, yet the ride will be stock. I have them on my T/A.

98_1LE: I had wheel hop on my stock 1LE setup. That's when I changed to the Hotchkis poly/poly. Do you get wheel hop with stock 1LE arms?

It may not be as bad as a stock Trans Am or Z28... I've never riden in one with stock arms. But it was there for me.

The BMR poly/rubber combo seems to be really comfortable on the street and the autoX for your occasional enthusiast. As for wheelhop. Not sure if I read that you lowered your car but a lowered car is usually the culprit. You may want to invest in some relocation brackets for your LCA's.

chev4life,
The poly end should be on the body side (rod end on axle), but this is mainly for noise isolation. Don't think there's a performance benefit either way. FWIW, I did not see any reference to LCA orientation in my LG instructions.

Well I remember reading somewhere that for my LCA's. Which is the poly/rubber combo. The rubber would attach to the body while the poly would attach to the rearend. Now wouldn't it be similar. The poly, which is softer and more forgiving then the heim joint, to attach to the body. Then the Heim to the rearend. I'm only using this as an example to my own application. I could be totally wrong.

From what I have heard the rod end is suppost to go toward the pass side of the car...ie the frame side...is this wrong? I think the G2 instructions said this. That is how my is installed, but if its better the other way then let me know and I will flip that sucker tonight.

Rod/poly is awesome. I never even regreased the poly side either. I had this for a few months now and I drive around Chicago. The potholes are in abundance here. I've beed to most states and the roads here are by far the worst. I also have poly endlinks/bushings, poly TA bushing, and poly trans mount. I was told I'm going to have horrible noises, but I'm not hearing anything. I also have very stiff 1LE shocks/springs. Car is stiff and nothing is making any noise.

Maybe you need to exchange the rods for new ones? Talk to LG, maybe they can exchange the rods.

There is a shoulder bolt on the passenger side and the bushings are sized accordingly.

The LCA's go in poly to body, rod end to the axle.
