Default Alignment question!

I'd like to ask that again - somebody should know:

what is the correct alignment for the street-driven f-body with stock tires ?? and what should be changed for better traction on a drag strip? (I assume 0 -camber on rear tires?)

I'd like to extract maximum 60'/ET from street tires (bridgestones RE730), kind of want to know that right after the 1/4 mile I can take corners and drive in the rain at 90mph...

Rear alignment is already set (unless you have adjustable control arms and they are not adjusted to the same length). In the front, I'd look for no toe in or out, a minimal camber setting (.5 degrees negative tops and around 4.5 degrees of castor). This will track ok on the street and minimize tire drag at the strip. If the car is reasonably stock, I'd just stick with a factory alignment, I doubt that you will see much improvement by changing specs. You will see more gains by going to a 5.5 inch wide lightweight rim and wheel package (welds, centerlines, etc). Getting rid of rotating weight at the strip is going to do far more than an alignment ever will to help your et and mph. Hope this helps....good luck.

Aha! Thank you. That's what I was thinking. I assume adjusting panhard rod is only going to move rear-end, and it's only important on lowered car, so looks like there is nothing to adjust in the rear..

I set a lot of alignments on drag cars and it is very importent. You have to rememeber that the reading will change under accleration and the will vary from start to finish in the quarter mile. I have gone as far as previewing video tapes and watching the amount of lift and carry and calculated the specs to achieve the least amount of drag while still keeping the car stable. I've seen changes in time from .2 to .4ths in the quarter.

Well, you are the man <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

can you write some small tutorial? like what to change on mostly stock car [<400rwhp], and also what to change when going to stickier tires [drag radials or et streets]? some real numbers [z28]? that would be great!
