Default Finding some middle ground

Well I want to set the car up to handle better and plant the tires more effectively without sacrificing straight-line performance. I was thinking of going with some DMS lowering springs because I hear they drop the car nicely for handling but also help 60' foot times slightly. Along with the springs I'd relocate the LCA's to reduce wheel hop. I already have a set of subframes on the way, so what other mods would help with handling without sacrificing performance in the 1/4? What kind of shocks if any should I look into? I don't want to go to a full drag setup either, I'm trying to find some good middle ground for a street-race car in both handling and straight-line performance.

Thanks in advance!
Nick

if your lowering, get a panhard rod.
It will keep the rear under you through hard corners, get the reloc. brkt's,.. LCA's if you want. (I would only get them if you are serious about dragging, if you get the Xtrm LCA's, it will give you car a harsh ride.)

Try a torque arm, swaybars, A-arms,... a STB?
i duno its all about the $$

If you don't mind spending some money, try some Koni Double Adjustables. At the strip you could take all the rebound of the fronts then change it back for fun in the twisties. Get some LCAs with either one end in rubber or one that has a rod end on one end. Don't get the double poly ones if you want a duel purpose car.

Well the car won't see the stip too much, most of the straight-line would be needed for the streets. How are the bilsteins? I hear they're very streetable and yet still retain a lot of the characteristics of a good twisty-type shock. So far it looks like lca relocations and panhard for sure once the springs go in. How harsh would the ride be with all new lca's? How well would the car's handling characteristics improve? Would it be unwise to swap out the swaybars for larger ones? I'm a bit of a suspension novice so I'm not always sure how certain components effect everything.

What about a 35mm front sway bar and set of bilstein hd's or revalved bilsteins in the rear and a set of koni d/a's in the front as similar to one of the setups run by Sam Strano? How well would this setup mix with a set of subframes, springs, nittos in the rear, new panhard, lca's and lca relocation brackets? It seems to me like I'd have the adjustability that I'm looking for with this kind of setup. How well would it perform in the twisties, only moderate or would the car stick like glue <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ?

For tires that stick like glue in the turns, I hear that yokahoma makes an autocross tire, I cant remember the name of it but I hear really good things about it, But its at the expence of more road noise on the highway.
