Default Strut Tower

OK, I have been to the track over and over and I always forget to take it off when I go...

So should I be taking it off? Will I launch better or what?

I know it will be weight reduction, but will taking it off help my launch or hurt it?

What time does it run with it on and what time does it turn with it off?

I'd suspect that it eliminates some twisting of the chassis, and any horsepower being used to twist the chassis is not being used to move the car down the track. I'd think that it would be better for the chassis (help prevent squeake and rattles) and for et's to leave it on (it's not that heavy). But, the ultimate answer is to see which way it runs quicker....and go with the fastest setup.

Good luck.

well i went ahead and took it off before i read this post, but what you say does make sense to me...
Like I said before, i have never run it without and I am turning 12.43 @ 110.57 best ET with 1.78 60' stock engine with intake and headers & exhaust(!cats)

I will try it with the bar off and see what happens. Weather should be same as last time so that wont make a diff....any other thoughts on this?

Well there were numerous oil spills before I got there and whatever they use to clean it up makes the track a little slippery...so slippery that one guy in a 2k2 WS6 lost traction of the start and hit the wall.

My 60's were in the 2.20's and worse on ET Streets <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

Normally my 60's are in the 1.70's every time so there was really no basis for seeing if taking it off worked or not <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Bummer, sorry to hear about the WS6 VS. wall test, glad to hear that it wasn't you (hopefully nothing hurt but some paint and pride). If you get a clear run, you'll have to fill us in. (I'm guessing "same" or "faster" with the bar installed....Just wonder if I'm right.
